Google PageRank achieved

February 12th, 2007 · No Comments

Yes kids, a milestone has been achieved, this very site you are gazing at has a google pagerank of 1 (ok, and only in 1 of god knows how many GOOG datacenters), but hey Rome wasn’t built overnight. You may be thinking, “ha ha ha ha, you sad little man, my grandmothers hair-removal-adventures-blog has a higher PageRank”, oh but you don’t even know the pain. While seemingly insignificant, it’s been a long road.
Without having liquid pain-killer in hand to tell the whole story, here’s the skinny: After a year of battling my former incompetent hosting company and a 8 month battle to gain control over my personal domain name from an incompetent, shady registrar (the two had a parasitic relationship feeding off each others customers), my site is back on track. Apparently anyone with a few servers with cpanel installed qualifies as a hosting company.
So what’s the moral of this little tangent, know what you want to install/build/whatever, read the fine print and get recommendations from friends. “But Dave, you’re a “web professional” you should have known better”, fair enough, guess it was a case of a doctor being the worst patient. I doubt i’m alone on this.
for now, yay me.

ps – this is now usually where everything goes horribly wrong, and get sent to the sandbox.
